The Use of L / H and the Horizontal Sling Angle

The use of a tape measure to determine the horizontal sling angle and to estimate sling tensions in the field is a very useful tool. “L” refers to the length of the sling in the rigging triangle and “H” refers to the height of the rigging triangle. The rigging triangle is the triangle formed when multiple leg slings are connected to the load hook and the load. L/H can be used to measure the angle and L/H is the sling multiplier.
