Sling Angles:

Best Practices

This video illustrates the best practices a rigger should be aware of before rigging loads with multiple leg slings in rigging triangle applications. Whether the rigger choses wire rope, chain or synthetic slings the basics are the same. As the horizontal sling becomes smaller the crushing force exerted on the load increases and the sling tension in each leg increases as well. Best practice is to have horizontal sling angles of 60 degrees or bigger to reduce sling tension and crushing forces on the load.
